The Mirror Lake Watershed Management Plan (WMP) is a comprehensive diagnostic study of Mirror Lake’s watershed and analysis of the quality of Mirror Lake.  It provides projections of future conditions of the lake as well as an on-going remediation program to ensure Mirror Lake’s long term water quality.  The WMP was funded, in 2010, by a Section 319 Federal Clean Water Act Grant administered through New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services, the Tuftonboro Conservation Commission and Mirror Lake stakeholders.  In 2012, the Mirror Lake Protective Association received a second grant to implement many of the remediation projects recommended in the WMP.  Although we encourage you to read the WMP in its entirely, there is a three page summary on our website:  www.mirrorlakenh.org

We are sharing photos of the completed project located on Lang Pond Road.  The goal of this project was to stabilize the eroding edge ditches with stone and construct sediment traps to promote infiltration and energy dissipation.  The Towns of Tuftonboro and Wolfeboro worked jointly on this drainage and erosion control project, which was completed in May 2012.  We wish to extend our thanks to David Ford, the Town of Wolfeboro and the Town of Tuftonboro for their support of this project.   Our second phase will be the design and implementation of rain gardens and water management sites.  As we progress, news will be shared.
