Integrating sustainable green infrastructure practices as part of Brownfields clean up and site remediation is challenging, but crucial to increase resiliency to extreme weather events and improve environmental quality. This webinar will showcase the planning, design, and implementation of successful green and resilient infrastructure practices on Brownfields in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
Chelsea is a dense, urban community with a socioeconomically and demographically diverse population and a long industrial history. Creative reuse of former industrial sites is vital to reverse exposure to environmental and public health risks, support open space preservation, and implement sustainable development. The City has faced many unique design challenges in implementing their vision, including opportunities to address stormwater management, heat mitigation, and green infrastructure.
This webinar will cover successful planning and implementation strategies for site reuse and remediation, including incorporating green infrastructure, and planning for climate adaptation. It will also share innovative approaches for public engagement and collaborative approaches that produce results.
