The Hard and Soft of Shoreline Management
December 11, 2014, 7:30am-4:30pm
Portsmouth Harbor Events & Conference Center
Join the NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup and its partners for an all-day coastal shoreline management conference. Participants will gain an understanding of coastal shoreline management including:
- Why it’s important
- Basic concepts and vocabulary
- Treatments available for our diverse coastal shoreline and conditions
The conference will create an atmosphere for participants to discuss options and perspectives, including dialogue about advantages and disadvantages of shoreline management options in the context of climate change and sea-level rise in NH using sea-level rise and climate change scenarios developed for the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission.
Participants will understand how these changes impact shoreline management decisions and will be introduced to best practices and cutting edge management strategies that integrate protection of municipal and state infrastructure with protection and enhancement of coastal ecosystems as well as cultural and social resources.
The engaging and informative conference will be held at the Portsmouth Harbor Events and Conference Center and registration includes a continental breakfast, all day coffee, and a hot lunch.
