Soak up the Rain Great Bay – COMMUNITY CALENDAR ANNOUNCEMENT in the Coastal Watershed

For the gardeners out there, and for those of you interested in reducing pollution caused by stormwater running off roofs and driveways into the stormwater drainage system, or the nearby stream —

The Great Bay Stewards are hosting a kickoff event for a new project called Soak up the Rain Great Bay

For gardeners, the event will include information on building rain gardens and representatives from Rolling Green Nursery and UNH Cooperative Extension will provide presentations on useful plants for rain gardens and how to maintain them.  There will also be a tour of the green features (pervious walkway and parking lot, rain barrel, raingarden and more) installed at the Great Bay Discovery Center and a tour of a nearby residential rain garden installed last fall.

The event will be held at the Great Bay Discovery Center at 89 Depot Road in Greenland

June 28 from 10:00am – noon

Funding for this project was provided in part by a Watershed Assistance Grant from the NH Department of Environmental Services with Clean Water Act Section 319 funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
