GOT BUGS? We do…Come join the UMMP at Bug Nights 2014 and put some backbone into your Wednesday nights identifying creatures without backbones.

There’s no better place on the globe than the eighteenth annual BUG NIGHTS! Since 1995, volunteers including anglers, students, teachers, paddlers, and others interested in the health of the Upper Merrimack River, its tributaries, and general river ecology have enjoyed learning about aquatic macroinvertebrates and what they tell us about the health of the Upper Merrimack watershed.

Training is free, fun, and a great way to spend quality time with family (pun intended here since we sort and identify organisms to the family taxonomy level)  and friends as well as an opportunity to make new acquaintances (with our without backbones).

Upper Merrimack Monitoring Program (UMMP) Bug Nights 2014 sessions are held on Wednesdays at St. Paul’s School in Concord, start at 6:00 PM and end promptly at 9:00. An instructional training and refresher class will be conducted during the first session on January 22, 2014. Refreshers and additional training provided at each session for new arrivals. All equipment and alcohol (denatured for preservation of specimens of course) are provided – just bring yourself and a friend. You can visit www.MerrimackRiver.org to download the 2014 Bug Night flyer and schedule for more details.2014 Front
