Request for Qualifications Issued for Design, Engineering, and Permitting for Dam Removal Project

On behalf of dam owners, George Wons and Olesia Pacholok, the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for design, engineering, and permitting for the removal of the Boyce Pond/Horseshoe Pond Dam in Fitzwilliam, NH. The RFQ is posted on the DES webpage at: http://des.nh.gov/organization/commissioner/pip/rfp.htm and also at the State’s Administrative Services webpage at: http://admin.state.nh.us/purchasing/vendorresources.asp. The RFQ has a closing date of December 14, 2012. Please note that all correspondence and inquiries related to this RFQ and the project scope are to be directed to the dam owners. Their contact information can be found in the RFQ document.

Boyce Pond/Horseshoe Pond fails to support Aquatic Life Use due to insufficient dissolved oxygen. Following dam removal and restoration of free flowing conditions in this tributary to Kemp Brook, project partners anticipate that designated uses will be fully restored and this project will become a Nonpoint Source Pollution Success Story recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Funding for this project was provided in part by a Watershed Assistance Grant from the NH Department of Environmental Services with Clean Water Act Section 319 funds from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
