Surplus Land Reviews – April 2019

The following Surplus Land Reviews were received in April, with comments due by May 6th.

  • 2019 SLR 002 Concord – Lease rooftop space at 29 Hazen Drive (NHDES!) in Concord to AT&T for cellular towers, plus ground space near the building for an equipment shed. The area proposed for lease is more than 250 feet from the Merrimack River, though within the corridor of the upper Merrimack River.
  • 2019 SLR 003 Berlin – Sale of 3.4 acres, including armory and storage buildings, probably to the City of Berlin. Parcel lies directly across Route 16 from the Androscoggin River, and within 60 feet of the river.
  • 2019 DOT SLR 072318 Nashua – Sale of 0.28 parcel of land along the west side of Daniel Webster Highway and just south of the FE Everett Turnpike Exit 2B NB off-ramp. The majority of the parcel is paved and used as a parking lot by an abutter.

SURPLUS LAND REVIEWS

  • The RMAC has been informed of CORD SLR 19-001 in Lebanon, a proposed lease by NHDOT to Rymes Heating Oils for transshipment of fuel from railroad to trucks. While the lot in question is directly adjacent to the Connecticut River, the area proposed for lease is approximately 300 feet from the river. Comments are due by March 26th. A news article on the site provides some additional information. The Upper Valley Subcommittee of the Connecticut River Joint Commission provided this feedback expressing concerns about the proposed lease. The Mascoma River LAC provided this comment, despite the project not impacting the Mascoma River.
  • The RMAC has been informed of 2019 DOT SLR Charlestown SP-013017 in. This is a proposed sale of 1.73 acres near the Connecticut River, but located such that Rte. 12 runs between the river and the property.
  • The RMAC has been informed of 2019 DOT SLR Franklin SP-072018 . This is a proposed sale of 1.9 acres of land near the Pemigewasset River in Franklin.
  • The RMAC has been informed of 2019 DOT SLR Winchester. This is a proposed sale of approximately 0.5 acres of land near the Ashuelot River in Winchester. The Ashuelot River LAC submitted a comment letter.

RMAC & Joint Meetings – January 16, 2019

The next RMAC and Joint RMAC/LMAC meetings will be held from 9:00 AM to 1:15 PM in the Granite State Conference Room at the NH Department of Transportation offices located at 7 Hazen Drive in Concord. Instream Flow Program Designated River Prioritization for Protected Instream Flow Study Public Hearing

NHDES Instream Flow Program will hold a public hearing to receive comments on determining the next river on which to conduct a protected instream flow study.

The hearing will be held jointly with the NH Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and the NH House of Representatives Resources, Recreation and Development Committee.

 

When: Monday, November 26, 2018 at 5:30 pm
Where: Conference Rooms 111-114 of the NHDES offices at 29 Hazen Drive, Concord, NH.
